Type 3’s may require extra moisture depending on whether hair is fine, medium or coarse and commonly combat frizz; wanting to add definition to curls.

Type 3c Curly

Tight corkscrew shaped curls about ¼” in diameter (the size of an ink pen) creating full volume and frizz. When in its natural state, this hair type looses 35% to 45% of the hair length in comparison to when straight. This hair type has a tendency to bounce up when layered and this should be taken into consideration when deciding on the length of a haircut. Extra hydration helps this hair remain healthy and minimize frizz. Use Lavish in Lather™ Sulfate Free Shampoo weekly, followed by No Restrictions™ Moisturizing Conditioner. Co-wash hair with No Restrictions™ Moisturizing Conditioner between shampoos as needed. Cocktail using Take Command™ Curl Defining Cream with Set it Off™ Curl Boosting Jelly to define and elongate hair using a shingling technique and allow to air dry. Achieve Second Day Curls by using Second Chance™ Curl Refresher in the morning to scrunch and twist frizzy curls back into place. Add cornrows to one or both sides or add a French twist in the back for flair. Other recommended styles include two strand twists, flat twists, and accessorizing with hair ornamentation.

Type 3b Curly

- Ringlet shaped curls about 1/3” in diameter (the size of a marker) creating moderate volume and frizz. When in its natural state, this hair type looses 25% to 30% of the hair length in comparison to when straight. This hair type has a tendency to bounce up when layered and this should be taken into consideration when deciding on the length of a haircut. This hair type takes effort to straighten yet has style versatility. Use Lavish in Lather™ Sulfate Free Shampoo every 3 days followed by No Restrictions™ Moisturizing Conditioner. Cocktail a small amount of Take Command™ Curl Defining Cream with Set it Off™ Curl Boosting Jelly to form this hair type into well defined ringlets. Shape curls using fingers or scrunching and allow hair to air dry. Achieve second day curls by using Second Chance™ Curl Refresher in the morning to scrunch and twist frizzy curls back into place. Have fun with this hair type; try various flat twist patterns, spiral sets and hair ornaments depending on the occasions. Other recommended styles include shingling, two strand flat twists, flat twists, and accessorizing with hair ornamentation.

Type 3a Curly

Ringlet shaped curls about ½”-3/4” in diameter, creating low volume and frizz. When in its natural state, this hair type looses approximately 20% of the hair length in comparison to when straight. This hair type is easily straightened and may loose volume in the crown area when hair is more than 5” long. Hair has a tendency to bounce up when layered and this should be taken into consideration when deciding on the length of a haircut. Use Lavish in Lather™ Sulfate Free Shampoo every other day followed by No Restrictions™ Moisturizing Conditioner. For beautiful defined curls, this hair type should use No Boundaries™ Leave in Conditioner along with Let it Flow™ Shine and Define Mousse. Plopping works best to enhance volume in the crown of the head; hold head upside down after applying product and dry using a diffuser. Use the tail of a comb instead of your hand to position curls as your fingers can cause fizzing. Second Day Curls may be possible with Second Chance™ Curl Refresher depending on if hair is fine, medium or coarse. Hair can also be set using rollers or styled using a twist out technique. Accessorize with hair ornamentations for a variation of looks.
