Hair texture is commonly confused for hair type. For clarification the definitions of both are as follows:
Hair Texture
The size of the diameter of one hair strand; classified as fine, medium and coarse. Fine hair has the smallest diameter followed by medium and coarse, which have the largest diameter. The texture affects the hair’s ability to effectively bend to form curls, resist damage and hold the weight of products.
Hair Type
The amount of curl or movement along the hair strands; classified as straight, wavy, curly and excessively curly (kinky). The more curl hair has the more shrinkage that occurs and the more moisture is required.
